VPRO PASSES
The amended Vacant Property Registration Ordinance was passed by City Council yesterday. It will go into effect on January 1st, 2015, and will mpose escalating fees on owners for each year their properties remain vacant, as well as fines for failing to register, pay the fee, or maintain the property. We're already noticing an effect: property owners are asking us to take them off the list, For Sale signs are popping up, and some abandoned properties are getting rehabbed for the first time in decades.
