What's going on?

The City of Trenton, Isles, and Historic Building Architects are coordinating an effort to bring two important cultural assets back to life and are seeking input on how to best reuse them.

This project, located within the Belvidere Area of the Trenton Historic Development Collaborative (THDC) Neighborhood, is funded by the Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program (NRTC), via the State of New Jersey and the City of Trenton.

Carver Center

For decades, the “Carver Y” was a popular social hub for neighborhood parties and games. It has since fallen on hard times due to funding and repairs needed.

Higbee Street (Nixon) School

Built in 1856, it was the first school in Trenton built specifically for black children and has sat vacant for decades.
